Brave chickens

'You're a chicken,' said the first chicken.
'I'm not,' said the second chicken.
'You really are,' said the first chicken.
'Stop it,' said the second chicken.
'It's true,' said the first chicken.
'No, it's not,' said the second chicken.

(Pause.)

'Why are you calling me names?' asked the second chicken.
'I'm not,' said the first chicken.
'You just did,' said the second chicken.
'I wouldn't,' said the first chicken.
'You did,' said the second chicken.
The first chicken sighed.

(Pause.)

'You're both chickens,' called the dishevelled little owl.
'Oh,' said the second chicken. 'Hello!'
'And you're both brave,' said the dishevelled little owl.
'Yes,' said first chicken.
'You're both brave and you're both chickens,' said the dishevelled little owl. 'Both at the same time.'
'Ah,' said the second chicken.
